Every effort is made by both the schools and the Evanston Hungry Children Backpack Program to assure every child’s privacy. Only appropriate school staff and counselors know the identity of children eligible and participating in the program. At no time are the staff and volunteers of the program made aware of these identities. Each school simply lets us know how many bags of food are needed each week. Program volunteers deliver bags to the school and the only contact involved is that with the receiving school staff member. Each school distributes the bags to the children discreetly before they leave to go home for the weekend.
